The inside front wall. This is framed and prepped for the new windows and doors.

The break room.

The bosses office.

The real "jewel" we found after opening up the drop ceiliing. This is a "waffle" designed concrete ceiling. According to our architect it is designed to support and absurd amount of weight. When we found it, it was grey concrete, covered in soot.

This week we delivered several custom made items to very happy customers. Below are pictures of several of those items with brief descriptions of the work we did.

please realize, that next weekend we will be closed for a long Labor Day. We will close at 3pm on Friday, Sept. 4 and re-open on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Have a Safe Weekend!

This customer had a 3-stone ring she was not happy with. She works in the medical field and wears gloves every day. We remounted her 3 diamonds into this twist setting with a lower profile and no prongs. We then used the diamonds from her wedding bands to create this lovely channel band that fits perfectly around the new 3-stone ring.

Our customer wanted to re-mount her diamond into a setting that did not look as much like and engagement ring. We made her this 14k yellow gold "fashion" mounting and set her diamond into it.

Our customer recieved all of these diamonds from a family member and asked us to created her a 3-row channel band. She has children and wanted something she could wear without worrying about prongs or loose diamonds.

Our customer got her ring and finger caught in a heavy door (photo on left), which bent and damaged her ring severely. Due to the nature of the baguettes and their setting style, this ring could not be "bent" back into shape. We created her a replica mounting (with 18k shank & platinum top) and reset all of her diamonds into it. Some baguettes were replaced due to damage.

An engagement ring we made for a young couple. She wanted a "high" setting with side diamonds, and he wanted a high quality diamond.

We made this 3-stone ring for a customer who had 2 "extra" diamonds. We burnished them into the wide shank of this ring we made for her.

Gold is shooting up again. Currently it is trading at $956 per ounce. Gold usually moves in the opposite direction of the US Dollar. It is definitely doing that today.

On another note...we are often reporting on the gold commodity market but we are actually in the jewelry business. The store has been quite busy with engagement rings and wedding bands for Spring weddings. We also added several desigs of diamond crosses this week for upcoming confirmations and First Communions. We have crosses in sterling silver at moderate (under $50) pricing and diamond crosses from $100 - $800.

3/7/09

Despite the economic gloom and doom, we seem to be very busy here at Snyder Jewelers. Right now our focus seems to be on engagement rings, wedding bands & re-designing people's older jewelry. Apparently fixing or re-designing the jewelry customers already own seems to be the order of the day.

We have also introduced a new Mother's Band that is extremely popular here at Snyder Jewelers. We cannot take credit for the idea, one of our customers introduced us to it and it has become and instant favorite. One band for each child, with birthstones encircling the entire finger. These are available in many variations, including white or yellow gold, 3mm (as shown) or wider (4mm and 5mm options). We can also vary how many birthstones are used or if they totally encircle the ring or just cover the top half. The variation shown is $450 at current gold prices and can be adjusted accordingly for a wider design or using less birthstones. Unfortunately, folks with an April brithday (diamond are slightly more for all designs).

We have more photos and samples on hand at the store. Our new Mother's Bands are custom made for each family and finger size and take 1-3 weeks to create.

2/20/09 8:49am

Well the overnight market in gold is simply crazy. Right now in London trading it is over $996 per ounce and is pushing upward. I expect it will breach over the heralded $1000 per ounce mark today. A move like this tends to mean bad things for the financial markets, but positive things for anyone holding gold or anyone who wants to sell any gold they have. Needless to say I will be keeping an eye on this all day.

2/17/09

I just finished editing the prices in our "Engagement Diamond" gallery to reflect the LOWER diamond prices in the market. The diamond market took two significant price drops in 2008. This is the first time diamond prices have fallen in my entire career in the jewelry business. They always go up or stay the same. This is a very big opportunity for anyone looking to purchase a diamond in the next few months. Feel free to browse our Dimaond Gallery and see what we have available right now. You may never see better deals in diamonds again!!!

We are still buying gold from our customers and the public. Gold shot up to $967 per ounce overnight. If you ave old gold to get rid of, now is the time!!! As always we pay the highest prices around for old gold.

2/11/09

We are open extended hours this week for Valentine's Day shopping. We will be open from 9:30-8pm on Thursday (2/12) & Friday (2/13). We will be open 9:30-5pm on Saturday (2/14).

We have gifts from $20 to $2000 in stock and gift wrapping is complimentary.

Earleir today gold took another big leap upward. Gold is now trading in the $940 per ounce range. We are still buying old, unwanted gold if you have items you'd like ot get rid of. For more information visit our "Gold Buying" page.

1/30/09

January is coming to a close with gold skyrocketing again. As of this morning gold was trading at $922 per ounce. If you still have old gold you'd like to get rid of, we will buy it from you and pay the highest prices around. Click here to go to our gold buying page and read more about it.

12/7/08

Our Holiday shopping season is in full swing already. We had a very busy "Black" weekend, and then this past week we were quite active with holiday shoppers. What's most popular right now?

Diamond studs are selling very quickly, and many of our customers are taking advantage of our trade-up policy. Fancy diamond pendants have also been quite popular. Many customers are purchasing jewelry from our Sterling Silver department to purchase more affordable gifts under $100. Our Beachcomber/Expresssion bracelets and clasps are our absolute best selling item right now.

Fear not! Even though we are busy, we have plenty more inventory to get us through until Dec. 24

On Tuesday of this week, I was priviledged to be able to view a multi-million dollar diamond "tender" from one of our biggest suppliers. This supplier purchased a major diamond manufacturers entire inventory, including finished goods and loose diamonds. I had already seen & shopped most of the finished goods at the NY jewelry show, but they were still processing the loose diamonds at that time and they were unavailable. My sales rep for the company called me last week and asked if I would like to see the loose diamond tender. Of course I said "yes" and we set up an appointment.

I was honored when they told me I would be only the second dealer to view the "tender". The first was a major buyer from Chicago that they were flying in that same day. I feel I was granted this advantage due to our great relationship with this supplier as well as our stellar reputation in the industry for being a high quality "buyer". We also hold an exceptional credit rating for our prompt payment history.

I was able to purchase some wonderful new diamonds for our inventory, at exceptional low prices. The package I bought included:

*a parcel of quality 1/2 ct diamonds

*a .98ct princess cut GIA VS1/I diamond

*a .70ct cushion cut diamond vs2/H

*a large parcel of matched cushion cut .25ct diamonds(watch for our new ring with the .70ct cushion & these cushions as side diamonds soon!)

*a parcel of .40ct fancy cut, high quality round diamonds

* several pairs of matched .92ct total weight round diamonds.

All in all, I purchasd some great new inventory for our store, had quite a learning experience in looking at a major tender of this nature, and continued and strenghtened an already good relationship with a major player in the industry.

Thanks to Meg & Robin who covered the store while I was out of the store that day on very short notice.
